Berit began her healing work in 1975 when she became a Certified Reflexologist, working professionally at the Beechwold Natural Clinic in Columbus, Ohio, while pursuing studies in Massage Therapy. After being licensed by the State of Ohio as a Massage Therapist, she served as the Senior Therapist at Beechwold for nine years, providing supervision to other Reflexologists and Massage Therapists.

The desire to see healing quickened was her motivation for studying Polarity Therapy. In 1978 she incorporated Polarity Therapy into her practice and teaching, while making a commitment to pursue studies in mind/body energetic work. In addition to her three main modalities of Reflexology, Therapeutic Massage, and Polarity Therapy, Berit has studied Gestalt, Reiki, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Myofascial, Cranio-sacral, Trigger point release, and Positional release (strain/counterstrain) techniques, and has integrated all of her training into a single mode she calls Energy Release Somatic Therapy.
